The Guide is divided into topics. If you wish to be included
in the Guide, please read the following guidelines to help you
decide which which topic is relevant to your business or product.
1. Living At Home and Workplace
- Applicants that sell energy efficient products with Energy
Star Ratings for water heating, home heating and cooling, white
goods, electronics, and lighting.
- Applicants that sell water efficient products with Triple
AAA Rating for kitchen, bathroom and laundry plumbing products.
- Applicants that sell other products that increase energy efficiency
in the home such as insulation, curtains, awnings and skylights.
- Applicants that sell solar products such as solar hot water
systems, solar lighting, window tinting and fridge sealing.
- Applicants that provide energy audit and education services
on how to improve energy efficiency in the home and workplace.
- Applicants that provide services that deal with household
or workplace waste such as paper, organic waste, discarded computers
and mobile phones, used ink cartridges and car oil.
2. Transport
- Applicants that sell hybrid vehicles and/or vehicles with Fuel
Consumption Labels.
- Applicants that supply fuels that produce less greenhouse gases
than other fuels, or supply a renewable fuel blend.
- Applicants who supply public transport or group transport available
for public use or hire.
- Applicants who sell bicycles and related products.
3. Building and Renovating
- Applicants who supply building products with Government Energy
and Water Efficient Ratings or Ethically Produced Ratings. For
example Basix, Window Energy Rating and Forest Stewardship Council
(certified wood products).
- Applicants who supply products made from sustainable or environmentally
friendly sources such as recycled products and plantation timber.
- Applicants who specialise in design who use ‘sustainable
housing’ principles and source energy efficient rated, environmentally
friendly, and ethically produced products.
4. Gardening and Agriculture
- Applicants who supply environmentally friendly gardening products
such as locally native plants and drought tolerant plants, suitable
fruit trees, water saving or water recycling products, organic
fertilizers and heritage seed, etc.
- Applicants who specialize in garden design using ‘sustainable
gardening principles’ and source environmentally friendly
products.
- Applicants who provide environmentally friendly agricultural
products — such as organic feed, suitable livestock, and
water and energy efficient products.
- Applicants who have specialised services that help provide
sustainable agricultural management and design, using water
and energy efficient products, and sustainable principles and
products.
5. Shopping
- Applicants who sell locally produced and/or Australian Certified
Organic food products that use sustainable, ethical and environmentally
friendly production and/or labelling such as GM Free, RSPCA
certified and free-range.
- Applicants who sell paper based products that are labelled
as Forest Stewardship Council certified, plantation timber or
recycled, and unbleached.
- Applicants who sell cleaning products that are labelled as
environmentally friendly, chemical free, biodegradable, septic
safe, fragrance free, recycled and recyclable.
- Applicants who sell other products that are labeled environmentally
friendly such as body care, pest control, etc.
- Applicants that sell recycled goods, such as clothes, furniture,
books and toys.
- Applicants that offer hire of equipment e.g. power tools,
books, videos, clothes, party supplies, toys.
6. Recreation, Tourism and Dining
- Applicants who provide recreational services that are considered
sustainable and environmentally friendly.
- Applicants who provide accommodation that has Gumnut Environmental Certification or is considered sustainable and environmentally friendly.
- Applicants who provide food services using local products and/or Australian Certified Organic food products that use sustainable, ethical and environmentally friendly production. For example cafés, restaurants and caterers.
7. Ways to Act Locally and Think Globally
- Local, Australian and International organisations and services
that are strongly linked to helping reduce climate change, and
care for the environment and biodiversity.
- Local, Australian and International organisations and services
that support communities (in times of emergencies) or strengthen
communities (giving ongoing support for children, families,
education, sustainable basic needs, sustainable job creations,
etc.). We will endeavor to promote good examples from a range
of services so people can find out more for themselves.
