BIKE BUS
Primary schools in Forster/Tuncurry now participate in an Active Transport Day. The aim of the program is to encourage children, and accompanying adults, to become more active by riding or walking to school — to encourage ‘lean power.’ The goals are to save greenhouse gases by keeping cars off the road for a short time, improving safety and congestion around schools at peak times, improving riding skills and encouraging children and adults to be more active by using bikes instead or cars. The local BUGS group is also hopeful of encouraging more people to join the group and become more active riders. The Active Transport Day will be held at least once a term. For information on how to participate, contact Phil Webster, secretary of the Great Lakes Cycle Action Group.

COMMUNITY TRANSPORT

COMMUNITY TRANSPORT
Did you know there is a great community transport service available to those qualifying in the Great Lakes area? Subsidies are available depending on individual's circumstances. There are several regular and specialty transport runs, for example a regular bus service to Taree and Wingham hospitals from Forster for medical appointments and family visits. There are also regular bus runs from Seal Rocks, Smiths Lake, Pacific Palms and Forster. Get in touch with the good people at Community Transport in Forster on 02 6554 5447 at the Forster Community Centre in Breese Parade Tuesday to Friday or call head office at Wingham on 02 6553 5860. Other offices are in Gloucester 02 6558 2104 and Hawks Nest 02 4997 2266.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES

EPAC POWER
You can have one of these powerful little motors installed on your regular bicycle. This will enable you to ride up steep hills and go long distances with the security of knowing you have help if needed — to get you wherever you are going. It will also allow you to increase fitness without stress as you can gradually use the motor less and the pedals more as you become fitter. Even a beginner can now keep up with the fast guys.
www.signartist.com.au, 02 6554 8644. You will find Geoff at cnr Dalman & Boona Ave (off Kularoo) Forster, NSW.

KOALA ELECTRIC SCOOTERS AND BIKES
Those with restricted mobility can buy or rent a ‘Mobility Scooter’ and get back out and about and enjoy our beautiful towns. Koala T Care also sells electric bikes. Reduce your dependence on others and cars and go electric.
